Beyond Surviving founder Ciara Mangan named Local Hero at the Goss.ie Women of the Year Awards 2026

Ciara received the award at a ceremony at the Royal Marine Hotel in Dún Laoghaire on Sunday 11 October.

Local Hero nominees are put forward by Goss.ie readers who have made an impact in their local area. Ciara told Mayo News she was nominated by the people she supports: “I was nominated by the people that I support every day.” She described the award as theirs: “This is an award for them, essentially.”

Ciara also dedicated the award to Beyond Surviving’s volunteers and to the survivors who make the community what it is today, and thanked everyone who supports the organisation’s work.

Beyond Surviving is a survivor-led peer community for life beyond surviving, supporting adult women affected by domestic, sexual and gender-based violence.
