What have we been up to at
beyond surviving?

Keep Counselling Confidential

Advocates from Beyond Surviving travelled to the United Nations (Monday 16th – Friday 20th June) in Geneva, Switzerland, for the 91st session of the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW).

As survivors, we called on the Irish government to ban the practice of disclosing victim-survivors’ counselling notes to the court, the accused, the counsel of the accused, and the prosecution team in sexual offence trials. Beyond Surviving will continue to remind the government of its obligations to uphold the human rights of survivors under international human rights law, and more specifically, CEDAW. We, at Beyond Surviving, call for a ban, in recognition of our rights to health, justice, privacy, and non-discrimination under CEDAW.
